Talk about some major guts. Clever scammers manipulating caller ID's to use familiar numbers is nothing new, but using numbers associated with the Rockford Police Department certainly is.
On Sunday the Rockford Police Department released this warning, and now I'm never answering my phone again.
If you do answer one of these phone calls, DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. Hang up and call Rockford Police immediately. No legit department will ever ask for personal information over the phone.
