BROOKLYN, Ohio
Property damage, Pelham Drive: On Feb. 3, police were dispatched to Pelham Drive after a truck driver damaged phone lines.
An arriving officer located the Lakewood driver, who erroneously drove his semi-truck on a residential street.
The result damaged both phone and cable lines. The man was cited for damage to property and violating a no through truck traffic sign.
Speeding, I-480: On Feb. 3, police observed a speeding vehicle traveling 75 MPH on I-480.
The officer talked to the Highland Heights driver, who said he was having suicidal throughs and admitted he had a plan.
The driver was taken into custody for emergency hospitalization.
Obstructing official business, Memphis Avenue: On Feb. 3, police we dispatched to a Memphis Avenue address regarding a report of illegal gambling.
An arriving officer entered the apartment and quickly found the suspicious suspect, who wasn’t forthcoming with the police.
The Cleveland man was arrested for obstruction of official business.
Lost property, Ardmore Avenue: On Feb. 3, an Ardmore Avenue resident called police after discovering a checkbook was missing from her home.
The woman wasn’t sure if it was stolen or she lost it. Police are investigating.
Shoplifting, Brookpark Road: On Feb. 2, a Walmart employee observed two customers stealing merchandise from the Brookpark Road store.
An arriving officer quickly located the thieves. A Bedford man and Maple Heights resident were arrested for stealing CDs and beauty products.
The crime was caught on surveillance video.
Trespassing, Cascade Crossing: On Feb. 2, police were dispatched to Sheetz regarding a man who was at the gas station the day after being told not to return to the Cascade Crossing store.
An arriving officer located the Cleveland resident, who was arrested for trespassing. During a search of the man’s car police found a crack pipe.
He was cited for trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Fraud, Brookpark Road: On Feb, 1, an Olmsted Township resident called the Brooklyn Police after he was the victim of a scam.
The man told the officer he was contacted by phone that his identity was compromised. He was instructed to empty his bank account and purchase gift cards.
He was instructed to provide the pin numbers to the caller. That’s when the man discovered he was the victim of fraud. Police are investigating.
